Participants will learn how to engage in shared reading with young children with a range of developmental disabilities, including those with complex communication needs. Shared reading is an emergent literacy intervention that supports a range of emergent literacy skills and concepts. The focus of this webinar will be on strategies for maximizing interactions and increasing child engagement during shared reading interactions.
By the end of the webinar participants will be able to:
(1) Name three ways students with disabilities benefit from shared reading.
(2) Describe two ways to support communication during shared reading for students with complex communication needs.
