This webinar will give an overview of Actively Learn website, a digital tool for interactive close reading that has built in differentiation tools such as a screen reader, customizable visual settings, ability to embed questions and comments, online dictionary, and collaboration tools. Participants will learn how to use Actively Learn with pre-loaded curriculum content as well as adding custom documents which can be modified and accessed for all students. This is a great UDL tool to use with general education and special education teachers collaboratively in the classroom and is currently available district-wide in Kent School District.
1: Participants will understand how Actively Learn program supports deep reading.
2. Participants will gain an overview of how to navigate the Actively Learn program.
3: Participants will see examples how to modify content, use accessibility settings and develop scaffolded lessons to meet the needs of all of their students with the use of Actively Learn during core literacy instruction.
Rose Racicot, MS, OTR/L is an OT and Assistive Technology Program Specialist in Kent School District with 30 years of experience. She has conducted research and been published on “The Effect of Multimedia Software on Written Productivity”. She presents workshops on literacy support software, UDL, iPad and other AT topics at state and national conferences as well as guest lecturing at local OT and OTA schools. She is passionate about helping educators implement Universal Design for Learning principles to create inclusive classrooms for all students to succeed.
