Chromebooks and the Chrome browser have many accessibility features, extensions and apps to help students access their educational content. When sorting through these features, apps and extensions, which ones will help students who need accommodations in reading, writing and math and which apps will best meet the needs of your students? This class will explore the accessibility feature of Chromebooks and explore many of those apps and extensions. We will also explore some general apps/extensions that will bolster productivity.
Participants in this class will:
Be able to identify and use at least three accessibility features on Chromebooks.
Be able to identify, install and use at least three apps and/or extensions for accommodations in reading, writing and math
Learn how to change settings and use several productivity extensions in Chrome to support organization and executive functioning.
Nicky is an SLP and AT specialist in Mount Vernon, WA. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and has served students ages 3-21 in the public schools for the past 10 years. Nicky has previously worked in the medical setting and currently has a small private practice specializing in AAC (alternative augmentative communication) devices and services for adults in the workplace. Special areas of interest include teaming to create customized solutions for people with complex needs and collaborating with local and regional professionals to increase capacity to provide assistive technology devices and services to people across the lifespan in Washington State.
