“The new Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) governing K-12 education in the United States defines and endorses Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as a framework to help achieve greater opportunity and academic achievement for all learners, including those with disabilities, English learners, and “gifted and talented” students.” (Novak, Universally Designed Leadership)  

This webinar will introduce resources on how to explore and implement UDL from the perspective of those in a leadership position.   There are many web-based resources, as well as printed resources developed by veteran teachers and school administrators that provide guidance for putting the UDL framework into practice.  Join this webinar to obtain resources that will help you facilitate discussions around the use the UDL guidelines to shape curriculum decisions.  Participants will receive a list of well-vetted resources on creating more equitable, inclusive, and effective learning environments.

Kristin Leslie, ATP, MAT, OTR/L

Kristin Leslie is an occupational therapist and an assistive technology professional who has worked in special education in Washington State Public Schools for 19 years.   She is currently the director of the Special Education Technology Center.  Her leadership role at SETC includes providing consultation to administrators and educators on AT procedures and best practices. In addition she actively teaches webinars, in-person classes and consultation on the implementation of assistive technology for children with wide range of physical and cognitive abilities.
